The importance of fresh and unpolluted water near beehives has been widely misunderstood or underestimated by many beekeepers.

Under normal conditions a productive sized colony (around 60,000 bees) needs nearly 2 litres of water every day for cooling, feeding, diluting and maintaining the right level of humidity inside the hive for healthy larvae growth.

It takes around a thousand bees to participate and carry this load. By obtaining clean water nearby, the colonies use up less precious resources from the bee hive. 

Puddles in orchards and farm crops often contain spray residues and are frequented by bees if there are no alternatives. Secure your apiary’s hygiene and supply them clean and unpolluted water! 

In NZ, an adapter and quick connector is included to suit the common garden tap fittings. If a water supply tank is required, we recommend a tap is fitted to suit the standard quick connector. These taps are available from most department stores like Bunnings.
